Echoes of Animalkind
The animal world has been at once inspiring, mysterious, and sometimes, frightening since the dawn of human consciousness. We impose human virtues of good and evil onto our animal counterparts; sometimes we aspire to their chosen qualities and sometimes we despise them for imagined evil tendencies. Visual animal allegory has been a staple of human culture and imagery for as long as we have existed, regardless of whether or not it reflects the true nature of the beast.
Guidelines
Submit a work of art that depicts an animal in the context of a cultural representation. Be as creative as you can!
You can draw from any culture at any time - old cave paintings in Europe, animal masks from Africa, heraldic crests from medieval times, etc. It can be an abstract composition or placed in an actual setting or however you like.
For specific requirements and instructions on submitting artwork, please see the sidebar to the right on this page.
If you have any questions on entering the contest or its requirements, post on this thread here.
PRIZES!
Three winners will be chosen: one by secret ballot of the users, one chosen by the owners of Totem, and one by the Administration. Artwork is judged on creativity and effort, not by skill alone.
All three winners will have their artwork and gallery links prominently displayed on Totem's front page! They will also receive a free pose from Foxgrin to use on the TotemLands chat world.
